Old wooden door repair.
Following the outline you created carefully chisel out the bad wood that you need to replace.
Cut a block of wood that is slightly larger than the area you measured.
Place the new block of wood over the area you need to repair and trace the outline on the surface of the door.
Lay the door flat on your sawhorses.
The door should now slide out from the hinges.
Measure the repair area.
Press the form against the filler and attach it with screws.
Then pull it off after the filler hardens.
Open the front door and lay some wood blocks under the bottom edge in order to help support the door.
Depending on the location and extent of wood damage you may or may not have to disassemble the door to carry out a repair.
Remove the hinges by taping the pins upwards with the help of a flat head screwdriver.
Most medium to large repairs will require at least two layers of filler.
